You can use Photo Mechanic to burn photos to multiple CDs or DVDs or Blu-ray Discs if you have an internal or external CD/DVD/Blu-ray disc drive.

Note: The Burn Photos to Disc function is disabled by default on macOS, as it is known to cause Photo Mechanic to crash on some operating systems. The functionality can be enabled by selecting Yes in the pop up that appears after selecting File>Burn Photos to Disk.

The Burn Photos to Disk functionality can be disabled by clearing the Enable Disc Burning feature checkbox in Settings>General.

If an internal or external disc drive is not recognized by the operating system, the following message will appear:

"No device capable of burning discs was found. One may come online later, make sure your drive is plugged in and ready and check the Burn Photos to Disc menu item again.

1. To burn files to a disc, first select the images you want to include in the Contact Sheet, then choose File> Burn Photos to Disk.

Photo Mechanic estimates how many discs you need for all selected photos and files and prompts you to change discs when necessary. You may use discs of varying storage capacities.

    Burning includes the following options:

RAW+JPEG Handling: If the photos include any RAW and JPEG pairs, then you can choose to burn them as a pair or include only the JPEG or RAW files from the pairs.

Parent folder hierarchy: Choose how much of the folder structure you want to copy onto your discs.  No parent structure burns just the photos without any folders. One level structure burns photos within folders, and two-level structure copies up to two levels of folders.

Burn WAV Files: If you have sound annotations, use this option to include them.

Additional Files: Add extra files in addition to your photos, such as readme text files or license agreements.

Please enter the disc naming string: Enter in the name you want to give the disc. If you are burning multiple discs, select the sequence checkbox or enter in the sequence variable {seqn} to include an incremental number for each successive disc burned.

2. After selecting Burn, a Burn Disc window will appear.

3. Select the dropdown arrow button next to the drive name to set additional Burn Options.

Burn Options:

  • Speed: Speed options will include 'Maximum Possible', and other speeds that the disc drive is capable.
  • Erase disc before burning
  • Leave disc append-able

After Burning

  • Verify burned data
  • Eject disc / Mount on Desktop

4. After choosing the desired options, select Burn to continue

5. A window will appear with the Write progress percentage

6. After the writing process is finished, the disc's data will be verified if the Verify burned data option was selected in the After Burning settings.

7. A popup will appear stating that the operation is complete. Select OK to proceed.
