Filtering & Browsing

In Photo Mechanic Plus, there are three basic ways to find photos in your catalogs; Searching, browsing, and filtering. Of those three, the two that may be new to you are browsing and filtering. Searches are fairly intuitive since we all now use search engines, so this article will discuss the difference between browsing and filtering.

Browsing and filtering both help you find photos, but one works by adding photos and the other by subtracting.

Browsing

When you browse photos, you begin by seeing no photos. You see more photos by adding metadata and tags to browse. As you add criteria, you see more photos.

Filtering

Filtering works in the opposite direction. When you filter photos, you start with all photos and then choose criteria to restrict what you see. As you add filters, you see fewer photos.
