Star Ratings & Color Classes between Software

Photo software, such as Adobe Lightroom Classic® and Apple Aperture® can recognize star ratings and color classes. However, in order for this to work, the text label for each class must be exactly the same in each app. We also suggest changing the colors to better match the app you're using. Photo Mechanic has preference snapshots to make this easier. To set your preferences for commonly used apps:

  1. Go to Preferences.
  2. Choose General.
  3. Select the Snapshot button (the lightning bolt).
  4. Choose the appropriate option, and then select OK to apply the changes.
